THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL SAFETY QUESTION MOST FAMILIES NEVER ASK

If a student carries pepper spray in the car, can they actually reach it quickly if they need it? LapDraw’s 2-Second Access Test was created to answer that question — and show why pepper spray “in the car” is not the same as pepper spray in hand.

LapDraw® is a rapid-access carry system designed to help people keep their pepper spray within immediate reach while driving.

Traditional methods of carrying pepper spray—such as in a purse, center console, glove compartment, or door pocket—can make it difficult to locate and retrieve quickly during a high-stress encounter. LapDraw secures compatible pepper spray to the vehicle's seat belt, placing it in a consistent, accessible location intended to reduce the time required to deploy it.

The company also created the 2-Second Access Test, an educational initiative encouraging individuals to evaluate how quickly they can actually reach their pepper spray when it matters most. The campaign highlights an often overlooked aspect of personal safety: owning a defensive tool is only part of the equation—being able to access it quickly is equally important.

LapDraw's mission is simple: Help make personal safety tools more accessible when every second counts.

The 2-Second Access Test is a public awareness initiative created by LapDraw to encourage people to evaluate one critical question:

Can you reach your pepper spray in under two seconds?

Many people carry pepper spray believing they are prepared for an emergency. But while in their vehicle, their pepper spray is usually buried in a purse, backpack, console, glove box or door pocket. The 2-Second Access Test challenges participants to determine whether they can actually locate and retrieve their pepper spray quickly when every second matters.

The test is simple, visual, and easy to perform, making it ideal for TV segments demonstrations, classroom discussions, community safety events, and social media participation.

What is LapDraw?
LapDraw is a rapid-access carry system designed to help keep pepper spray consistently positioned on a vehicle's seat belt, making it readily accessible while driving.

What is the 2-Second Access Test?
The 2-Second Access Test is a public awareness campaign encouraging people to evaluate how quickly they can access their pepper spray while seated in a vehicle.

Why two seconds?
Two seconds is a simple benchmark intended to encourage people to think about accessibility. It is not presented as a universal safety standard.

Why is this relevant for back-to-college?
As students head to college, many parents discuss personal safety tools. The 2-Second Access Test encourages students to think beyond just carrying pepper spray to consider whether they can actually access it quickly if they need it.

What media assets are available?
The Media Room includes an Electronic Press Kit, founder interview, broadcast quality B-roll, product photography, logos, fact sheets, and additional downloadable resources.

Is the founder available for interviews?
Yes. Interviews, demonstrations, and additional media resources are available upon request.

Can I get a sample LapDraw product shipped to me?
Yes. The LapDraw seat belt holster is bundled with compatible pepper spray. If you live in a state where pepper spray is restricted (NY, MA, DC, AK, HI), we can ship you a LapDraw device with an empty pepper spray canister so you can still conduct speed tests and hand-on demonstrations.
